We Recently removed squirrels from an attic gable vent in Charlotte, North Carolina. The home was over a hundred years old and due long history of squirrels nesting in the attic this proved to be a very specialized job. When we are squirrels from an attic, we make it a priority to preserve the squirrels and exclude them humanely as possible. The timing of the job also was an issue because there was a litter of baby squirrels that were approximately 5 weeks old. Once the baby squirrels are able to follow their mother a one way door can be installed.

The primary objective for this squirrel removal job was is to safely remove the squirrels in the attic and prevent future squirrel entry holes in gable vents, dormer windows, soffits, or any other construction gaps. Depending on which part of North Carolina and the time of year will helps us determine the proper squirrel removal method to follow.

Depending on the weather patterns and climate in the Charlotte area, will typically have two litters a year. Once in August/September time frame and again in February/March.

All potential squirrel entry points would need to be sealed with galvanized steel. The primary area where squirrels were getting into the the attic was the gable vent. For this job we used half inch galvanized steel hardware cloth to permanently exclude them fromm the house.
